Are you Ms. Artsy Bride?

by Isabela Abuan October 27, 2021
written by Isabela Abuan

Whether you are on a tight budget or you just wanna add a personal touch to your wedding, nothing beats the fun of a DIY celebration!

Whether you’re a Bridechilla or a Bridezilla, one thing’s for sure. You want a personal touch when it comes to your wedding. And what a great way to do it than to have some wedding stuff personalized?

Sure, you can go on and on how you would like to have some decorations and centerpieces DIY-ed. But where do you actually start?

Here are 8 nice projects for DIY Brides:

  1. Wedding invitations

Who doesn’t like shopping for stationery? Imagine personally choosing colors and textures over specialty paper and envelope liners! If you’re on a budget or you’re someone who just loves being in charge, you may want to design your own invites. We even saw some brides who did EVERYTHING handmade, from the paper cutting, to the folding of envelopes, sticking liners, and even doing the calligraphy! Well, it could be tedious, yes, but you can’t be more proud of yourself once you’re good and done with it!

  1. Favors!

Be it custom hand sanitizer, a bag of coffee beans or some soy candles, nothing beats the thrill of personalizing your own wedding favors! Just click on some video tutorials and you’re good to go! Customize them with your wedding color palette and tuck them inside a nice bag or box and seal it with your love!

  1. Monogram and Stamps

Gone are the days that you have to hire a professional graphic designer to do your wedding monogram. Well, if you still want to, it’s absolutely fine and there’s nothing wrong with that. No need to feel bad! But just in case you would like to DIY your monogram, all you have to do is look for free monogram generators online or do the layout yourself through some online graphic design platform. Then send it to the stamp maker so you can have those wax sealing stamps with your initials on it. Talk about wedding branding, girl!

  1. Cake topper

You may opt to have flowers on your wedding cake for your rustic themed wedding or just plain robed cake if you’re the classic bride. But THE cake is one of the main “attractions” of your wedding and will be part of the wedding traditions (if you’re up for it). A way to personalize your cake is to put a topper. You may design your own and have them made in a shop, or you may go all the way! Grab those scissors, glitters and acrylic and create the best topper for your dream wedding cake.

  1. Centerpiece

Your table centerpieces set the theme of your wedding. This is a good avenue to showcase your artsy side. They should not be too large to avoid difficulty of movement around the table, both in serving the dishes and in chatting with your longtime friends (which is one of the best parts of a wedding). You may consider doing driftwood pieces, potted plants, taper candles or vibrant flowers lined up through the table.

  1. Menu and place cards

What better way to depict your “tying the knot theme” than matching your menu and place cards with your wedding color palette and motif! Although everyone will sure be excited about food in the reception, a little bit of DIY in the card section wouldn’t go amiss!

  1. Ring holder

Let’s not forget the MAIN wedding symbol! The rings that symbolize everlasting love. Wew! Well, we cannot just do away without having to DIY your ring holder. Some prefer the velvet box, others fancy a wooden ring box, especially for rustic and bohemian weddings. To add a personal touch, you may have them engraved with your wedding monogram!

  1. Comfort and Beverage Station

Are you getting hitched outdoors? Make your guests happy with a comfort and beverage area during reception, showcasing a cozy bench with decors in sync with your wedding theme. You may opt to serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You may make specialty cocktails and juices which may be self-served during the reception.

Now, are you on for some challenge and HUGE EXCITEMENT? Get that wedding checklist and write down your DIY projects!

But I know it might be a bit overwhelming, that’s why I got you covered! Here’s your ULTIMATE WEDDING PLANNER so you can DIY the planning of your big day, with DIY projects and all!

Seamlessly execute your DIY wedding vision and have the most personalized and budget friendly wedding. Do the math!

Wedding Gift Ideas for Your Partner

by SandandLeaves September 3, 2021
written by SandandLeaves

If you’ve watched a lot of wedding highlights videos, you’d notice that one thing videographers always include is the couple’s heartwarming exchange of gifts before the ceremony. It’s either the sister or the bridesmaid or the groomsman bringing the gift with a handwritten card that the groom and bride read aloud to their friends inside their separate rooms. Of course, there are a few tears, if not smiles, here and there from opening the most thoughtful gifts they chose for each other. Now, if you don’t have any clue what to get your partner yet, this article is for you! Below are some wedding gift ideas.

For the Missus:

1. Jewelry

A necklace or a ring is one of the simplest yet still most meaningful gifts you can get your partner. Others get necklaces with pendants that symbolize something important in their relationship. While some get necklaces they want their partners to wear on the wedding day itself. Some brides also immediately wear the rings they get—of course not on the ring finger! Other jewelry like earrings are also a common yet gorgeous choice (with the help of a few your bride’s friends).

2. Personalized Items

It would be cute to give your wife something that adorably screams taken! Some do this by ordering customized robes or mugs with the word “wifey.” While some choose the more traditional way of writing and making a handmade card with their most honest emotions of love. Other choices include embroidered night pajamas and even pillows.

For the Mister:

1. Watch

When giving a watch, most brides choose to engrave something at the back of it. This may be the initials of her and her partner’s names or the date of the wedding itself. Although others also choose to engrave a whole message, this comes at a higher cost. Definitely, a watch is one of the most “timeless” gifts you can give your man.

2. Cufflinks

Personalized cufflinks are also a popular choice for wedding gifts. This is because like the jewelry for the missus, the groom can wear the cufflinks on the day of the wedding to officially complete his outfit. He may also choose to use them again on special dates you will have in the future like your wedding anniversary or any other celebration! Moreover, just like the watch, cufflinks can be personalized to suit your idea for a wedding gift like a cufflink in the form of the first letter of your name or perhaps a plain silver cufflink with a few romantic words.

1. Camera

Unlike any other gadget, a camera like an Instax, a DSLR, or a film one (depending on what fits your budget and what you think your partner would appreciate more) is a really cool gift. You could even include a message with the camera saying that it’s for the thousands of memories you’ll share together, starting with the wedding day. (Awwwe!) It may be on the more expensive end of gifts but it’s something you’re sure you and your partner can use as you start your own family.

2. Scrapbook

This one is a bit more creative and personal because it’s so much more than just a card. It’s something you’ll work hard on – from collecting pictures when you were still dating and composing messages you want to go with those pictures. There are many styles you can go about making the scrapbook and one example is the cliché yet sweet “Ten Things I Love About You.” Certainly, this is a very heartwarming gift and years after your wedding, both of you can share a few laughs and tears browsing through it.

3. Suitcase

If you’re that adventurous couple and you’ve always talked about travelling after you got married, you could get your partner a suitcase. Of course, this means that you are officially taking him/her up on that dream and that you want to keep that spontaneous and fun spirit in your marriage. You could even add in a cool pair of sunglasses and a world map to make it the cutest package! But, even if you don’t have any plans of travelling yet, your partner might a new suitcase and, embarking on this new journey in your lives, this might just be one of the perfect moments to give him/her one!

4. Embroidered Apron

This is one of those “I got you one and I have one too!” gifts. Giving an apron to your significant other is somehow symbolic of how you picture your life together. It’s saying that you’ll have Sundays at the kitchen cooking for your kids or Saturdays at the grill with your neighbors over. It’s a gift that says no matter what you do, you will do it together and that you’re happy to finally be able to do that after you get married. What you get embroidered on those aprons is up to you but common choices include “Mr. and Mrs.” and “His and Hers.” You could be more creative and embroider your endearment to each other or even be more personal by embroidering your childhood nicknames.

Needless to say, there really are a lot of gifts out there ranging from perfume to headphones to wine. It’s a matter of choosing what you think your partner will appreciate the most and what is most meaningful for you to give. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to be genuine and, hopefully, something you’ve put a lot of thought into. If you’re still feeling a bit lost about what you get your partner, start thinking back to the times you had together or even to the conversations you’ve had about your partner wanting to get something. That might help! Best of luck gift hunting!

4 Things You Need To Know To Start Your Wedding Plan

by SandandLeaves May 27, 2021
written by SandandLeaves

So he’s popped the question, and you’ve said yes! You’re finally engaged and now you’re on the way to marriage, but what exactly comes next? Wedding planning can be one of the most difficult things to do, especially if you don’t have any idea on what you’re doing.

That’s why today I’ll tell you all about the steps needed towards having the perfect wedding.

1. Figure out a budget

Even though every step in wedding planning is important, this may be one of the most important ones. Weddings can be horribly expensive, and to ensure that you don’t overspend you have to set a budget. The best way to do this is think of everything you need to do and what you’d want at your wedding. Flowers, food, music, wedding invitations, the dress, and set a budget on each item. From there, you can find an overall budget to not go over. You can also download free budget planner to help you identify all the things that you would need to alot your budget to.

2. Plan the guest list

Next up is planning a guest list. Whether you’re having a small or big wedding, you want to write down exactly who you want to be there. This includes close family, friends, and anyone else you’d like at your wedding. This also applies to step one of  figuring out a budget because the amount of people at your wedding will determine venue size, how many invitations need to be sent, the amount of food needed, and quite a bit more when it comes to decor. While the guest list doesn’t need to be finalized at this time, it’s best to get a good idea of how many people you’ll want at your wedding.

3. Get some possible dates

You don’t need to decide the exact date you’ll want your wedding around at this time, but it’s best to get a good idea together. Keep in mind that weekend weddings can end up being way more expensive than weekday weddings too, so if you’re on a short budget then you might not want a Saturday wedding. Picking out possible dates leads in to the next important step in wedding planning.

4. Choose a venue

After all previous steps have been completed, you’re all set to book a wedding venue. This is usually the time to hire a wedding planner if you so desire one. If you don’t, then you’re good to go to check out venues keeping in mind the guest count and the possible days for your wedding.

From here on, it’s best to finalize everything once you’ve booked the venue. This includes the guest list and of course the date, so it’s a great time to send out save the dates to people as well too.

Once everything is all in place, it’s time to pick your wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, and the rest of your attire for your wedding day. After attire is all set in place, you can send out wedding invitations to everyone and then begin with the decor on the venue. This is also when you’ll hire vendors for the wedding and plan what kind of cake you’ll want.

While wedding planning can be difficult for most because there’s so much to consider, it’s actually not too difficult if you know what you’re doing and have all of the right steps!
